The FabFilter Pro-C 2 is a software synthesizer plugin for Windows and Mac released by FabFilter on September 25, 2014. FabFilter created the Fabfilter Pro-C 2 to be a successor to what it has learned from its predecessor, the Pro-C, and took its popularity into account. The new plugin offers an interface designed to be more intuitive and friendly than that of its predecessor and shares common features with other plugins in the company's line up. For example, it also includes a stock signal path with different routing configurations that are easily accessible via drag-and-drop within the synthesizer window. FabFilter describes the synthesizer as "a unique virtual synthesizer, designed for advanced users or studio musicians, but also very friendly and easy to use for any music producer who knows the basics of synthesis." The plugin supports the high-quality wavetable synthesis that was introduced in the company's flagship product Fabfilter Saturn software synth. The interface includes a large backlit LCD screen with visual feedback on all details of the current signal path. The plugin also includes a step sequencer that allows the user to edit waveforms by entering waveform numbers and issuing commands to all parameters at once. The step sequencer can be used to trigger envelopes or LFOs, or apply effects such as filters or vocoders. FabFilter Pro-C 2 is shipped with 25 factory presets, which are designed for use as starting point sounds, but can be edited in the editor window. All presets are available as download-only freebies on the FabFilter website. There are also 36 factory effects units that can be controlled via MIDI CC messages, including compression, EQ, delay units and ring modulators..
